Today will be spent mainly on the Breara Peninsula. Firstly we will have our usual early morning start for sunrise with a 30-minute drive back up to Gougane Barra. If you thought sunset was peaceful wait until you are standing there at 6 am on a calm morning. The peacefulness and scenery will envelop you and your thoughts. It will be a minute or two before you clear your senses and concentrate on the photography.
We Return To Bantry For Breakfast At Cafe Organico And Discuss The Day Ahead. If Time Permits We Can Visit Bantry House a Must For Those would like to photograph a country house and estate. Our first stop after breakfast is only a few minutes down the road where we will visit a little-known waterfall on the edge of Bantry itself. One reason to do a recce is to tap into local knowledge and this waterfall was found as a chance encounter with some locals on our trip.
After This stop, we head off to the Breara peninsula for the day passing through Glengarriff and turning south to Castletownbere. The Geology in this area is both stunning and unique. Those of you in the vehicle with Trevor will no doubt listen to a geology lesson from the Geographer Photography. Most of our photography today will be from the roadside so if anyone wants to shoot traditional cottages, old ruins, scenery and even the sheep, goats etc just shout and we will stop. you are the customer and we are here to please!!! Lunch will be in Castletownbere and then we take the road to Allihies to visit some old copper mines and take in the view above the village.
From Here We Drive on To Eyeries To Photograph the Breara bowl. [Trevor will explain, more geology]. Heading North Again we will come to Kenmare where we will stay for an hour or so. This is a tourist hub and pubs, music, architecture and all things traditional abound. We Now Drive back to Bantry to rest up and recharge the batteries. For Sunset we can shoot in and around Bantry harbour or if anyone wishes we can take a drive back to Gougane Barra. Trevor and I will be eating at our favourite fish restaurant so once again join us to chat all things photography or you can do your own thing.
